Just completed design development model, this 1:500 context model aims to show how this proposed theatre design will sit within what is currently an urban car parking space. The model includes subterranean levels and roadways that make up the different site levels. At this stage the model can be disassembled to allow for possible design changes to be discussed with Rachel’s tutors.
This 1:50 scale cross section model used laser cut cardboard for the supporting structure and 3D Powder Printing for the parametric roof design. The roof section was created digitally using Grasshopper. The project was commended by the Manchester Society of Architects in the design awards for 2012.
 
Our workshop is used in the creation of literally hundreds of projects every year. Sadly many of these projects go out of the door never to be seen again or appreciated by up and coming students. In an effort to change this we are going to be requesting that either myself or Jim be able to photograph your work before it leaves us!

AÂ group 2nd year BA (Hons)Â Architecture students recently completed a series of large scale installation pieces now on display at Dunham Massey. Many of the components were manufactured in our workshop using our CNC Router.

This 1:250 site model was made for Jenkins Design ahead of the proposals for the new Media City UK site at Salford Quays. The model was used to convey the proposed site details and their relationship to the existing roads and the Manchester Ship Canal.

Some of you will be familiar with the Dwelle project by Manchester based Architect Ric Frankland. The eco home project has been on going for several years with this year taking things to another level thanks to the half scale cross section model built in our workshop! The model was built over 2 weeks and gave students and first-hand insight into the full scale construction of these contemporary Eco homes.
The project has gone on to be displayed at events at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall and the Manchester Arndale and will continue to travel further afield in the next month… stay tuned for more on this!
