B.15: 45 Years – Exhibition Survey

Exhibition Poster 1 copy

2015 will mark 45 years since the B.15 workshop opened its doors to students. To mark this occasion we have decided to produce a retrospective exhibition to tell the story of those years and give an insight to the changes that have occurred here in terms of approaches to making and design.

Please help us tell the story by adding some of your memories and experiences in this survey. Any stories, models or photographs of your time here will prove of value in recording our history so please take a few minuets to add your part!

The exhibition will most likely run for a period of 6-8 months from September and could feature some of your work! Please share this link with any groups or alumni that are related to the school.

Many thanks for all of your support so far!

‘Das Architektur Modell’ Book

DSC02399

In good time for your upcoming final submissions and shows we have just purchased a copy of the fantastic ‘Das Architektur Modell: WERKZEUG, FETISCH, KLEINE UTOPIE’ (The Architectural Model: TOOL, FETISH, SMALL UTOPIA) book for the workshop library. This book was published in 2012 to support the exhibition of the same name in Frankfurt Germany.

Unfortunately we were unable to attend the exhibition but the content was captured in this great catalogue book which will be available to view any time in the workshop. The book gives a selection of inspirational photographs and project descriptions that will hopefully fuel some great new ideas for your own work. If you can’t find the book in the workspace please ask either of us to direct you to it. Scott and Jim

Welcome Back to your Final Term!

Hopefully you’ve all made good progress over the Easter break and are ready to hit the ground running!

As usual we encourage you to book ahead for your laser cutting, 3D Printing and CNC jobs as it’s likely to get very busy in the coming weeks. These slots can only be secured with upfront payment using vouchers from the A4 & More Store!

As exhibition time approaches remember that everyone is in the same situation so avoid leave your jobs till the last minute as it will only add to the pressure everyone will be under. Consider any special consideration you may need to make for things like plinth or display stands that will need to be made. Both our workshop and the Chatham facility only have limited space to produce these kind of items so you will be expected to complete and remove your projects as quickly as possible.

Check back soon for some more project and workshop updates!

RIBA Exhibition: The Brits Who Built the Modern World

Yesterday myself and Jim visited the ‘Brits Who Built the Modern World’ exhibition at the RIBA building in London. The exhibition explores how the key British architects have evolved to become highly sort after worldwide. You may have seen the accompanying BBC series that was on recently. Key to the display and narrative of the exhibition are models of classic projects. To find out more click here.
