Build Area:\u00a0 355mm(L) x 254mm(W) x 355mm(H)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Ultimaker S7 (Primarily PLA only) <\/strong><strong>Build Area: 330mm(L) x 240mm(W) x 300mm(H)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Form Fuse+ (Nylon Powder) Build Area: 155mm(L) x 155mm(W) x 300mm(H)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Cost is calculated using completed 3D Model File in the workshop. There are no &#8216;overhead&#8217; costs to any type of 3D printing at B.15. Your jobs are charged at cost of the materials alone at the price they are sold to us by the manufacturer.<\/p>\n<p>We will thoroughly check your proposals before approving the use of any of the machines so please allow time for this by getting in touch with us at the earliest convenience.<\/p>\n<p>The machines work preferably\u00a0<strong>.STL file format.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To save the file as an.STL from your chosen modelling software you must export it and if <strong>given the option save as Binary<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Your\u00a0model must be a solid object not a collection of surfaces.<\/p>\n<p>After you scale the model we recommend as a general rule that you check that objects component parts are not smaller than 1.5mm thick, anything smaller will be fragile and potentially not print properly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Modelling Software<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We recommend using Rhinoceros 3D (Rhino) or Autodesk 3D Studio Max. Sketchup is a good starter programme for visualisations but can often throw up odd problems when being translated for 3D printing so we advise trying to pick up the more advanced programmes such as Rhino and 3DSmax once you feel confident with your modelling.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Checking your files<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Once you have discussed your model with staff and completed digital modelling we can further assess and repair your files using Magics Software in the workshop.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/b15.humanities.manchester.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/B15-3D-Printing-Handbook-2025.pdf\">Please read our 3D printing guide for more information<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/b15.humanities.manchester.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/CNC-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5701\" src=\"https:\/\/b15.humanities.manchester.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/CNC-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"398\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>ISEL M40 CNC Router<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Operation time can vary depending on the complexity and type of CAD file used. <strong>Please consult us with your ideas<\/strong> before going too far into the process of modelling for this method of manufacture.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/b15.humanities.manchester.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/B.15_CNC-Guide_Oct2024_V3.pdf\">You can find more information about CNC work using out guide here<\/a><\/p>\n<p>There is no time charge for using our CNC. Material is charged based on type and quantity. Speak to a member of staff for your particular project requirements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other Equipment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mayku Multiplier (Pressure Former)<\/p>\n<p>Bed size forming limits 380x380x160(H)<\/p>\n<p>Reducing plate size 250&#215;180<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cricut Plotter Cutter<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Circuit can be used to create flat, cut shapes primarily from paper and vinyl. This machine is particularly useful for net shapes that can then be folded along score lines and assembled without scorching that can occur when laser cutting.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>How to Prepare your Drawing File<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Preparation instructions to follow.
